Dingell Statement on Increased ICE Enforcement Activity

U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) released the following statement on increased enforcement activity by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

“We are all concerned and actively seeking more answers about reports of increased enforcement activity by ICE in our communities. These targeted enforcement actions have generated a great amount of uncertainty, and we are hearing that many people are afraid to send their children to school out of fear that they may be arrested and deported. While ICE has an important job to do, their enforcement actions should prioritize people with serious criminal records who pose an immediate threat to the security and safety of our communities.

“During these uncertain times, ICE has a responsibility to increase transparency and communicate with local communities about their activities. Anyone who has been impacted by these actions or has concerns should contact my office as we continue to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure our nation’s values are upheld and that people are receiving answers about what is happening in their communities.”
