US Capitol Complex Closed to Public, Including Dingell Offices

Washington, March 12, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Sergeant at Arms announced the US Capitol, House and Senate Office Buildings, and the Capitol Visitors Center will be closed to the public, including tours and meetings. The announcement anticipates the closures to remain in effect until at least April 1, 2020.

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) is acutely aware of the importance of being available to her constituents, and state and local officials as we deal with ongoing business. Dingell knows the importance of being available to answer questions, deal with issues, and handle casework at all times. Dingell’s staff is reaching out to previously scheduled meetings and tours affected by the closures to reschedule or connect through available technology. Dingell and her staff is available at all times by telephone and email.

Dingell’s Dearborn office is available at 313-278-2936, and the DC office can be reached at 202-225-4071. Information is available at https://debbiedingell.house.gov/, as well as daily updates on her Facebook and Twitter.

“I am available. We are here to answer questions, handle problems, and address casework. I’m exploring the option for virtual coffee and office hours, so you can talk to me on any issue you have. I am following the experts advice and cancelling in-person town halls, roundtables, reading to students, and many other activities that the professionals recommend.

“Dr. Fauci, of the National Institutes of Health, one of the world’s top infectious disease observed, ‘We must all change our behavior. We have the responsibility to help mitigate the impact.’ So let’s all do our part.”

On Thursday, March 12 at 5:00 pm Eastern, Dingell will be hosting a live telephone town hall event on the coronavirus. Joining Dingell will be health officials from the State of Michigan, as well as Wayne and Washtenaw Counties. Members of the public who are interested in joining, can call 855-920-0560 starting at 5:00 pm.

More telephone town hall events will be announced soon.
