Coronavirus update: April 10, 2020

Here is an update for April 10, 2020.

Thought of the day: You know it’s a rough day when chocolate chip Haagen-Dazs is your breakfast at 10:00 am.

On a check in call yesterday there was an update from USPS and mail delivery. USPS in Michigan’s Detroit district office made the tough decision to focus on first class letters, bills and checks, and packages to ensure that essential mail would be delivered. Many mail carriers and postal workers are currently at home for their and our safety. We thank the hard-working front-line workers – including letter carriers and postal workers. We will stay on top of mail delivery issues like we always have and maintain this essential service.

Thursday, I led over 80 lawmakers and 900 organizations in outlining 5 principles to protect workers and families health and economic security during the coronavirus crisis. Coronavirus is affecting everyone, it does not discriminate, however it does put a magnifying glass on inequalities and cracks in the system. Read the 5 Principles here and see who joined our effort.

Yesterday, Fiat Chrysler delivered another 250,000 masks to the State of Michigan Emergency Operations Center. These surgical masks and face masks will keep essential, front-line workers safe. Thank you FCA for keeping the “Arsenal of Health” strong!

Everyday I get an email I know is a scam or phishing attempt. Yesterday I got one from what looked to be from Amazon asking me to update my billing information. Hackers and scammers are taking advantage of people right now, but I want every one of my followers to not fall for their tricks. Protect yourself by being very suspicious of odd requests for personal information that occur via email, phone, text message, or social media messages. The IRS isn’t going to call you asking to verify or provide financial information so you can get an economic impact payment or your refund faster. Always confirm the senders email address and URL links, sometimes they will use small spelling mistakes to mislead you. When something feels off, take a second to examine the message and double check before giving away your personal information.

My staff and I are here every day, seven days a week to help you. I have a great team and everyone is part of problem solving, answering questions and Team Dingell just wants to help. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage.
