Coronavirus update: April 12, 2020

Here is an update for April 12, 2020

Thought of the day: Happy Easter. May we all find peace today. Take time to call family and friends, tell them how much they mean to you. Remember, you’re not alone.

It’s the holiday weekend, but work hasn’t stopped for me. People still need relief. The statistics must be paid attention to in Michigan. Michigan remains one of the top states for coronavirus deaths and cases. I’m on the phone every day fighting for Michiganders and we will continue to work on the 4th coronavirus relief package and make sure people, small businesses, frontline workers, and everyone else has the benefits the need. We’re here to make sure every single person impacted is helped.

Bad storms are predicted on Monday in Michigan. Please make sure you have your devices charged, have flashlights, candles, bottled water, and perishables prepared. DTE and Consumer Power know this is coming. They’ve been preparing and will be ready. After this we need to find a way to thank them.

Governor Whitmer announced new drive-thru testing locations that will begin to open now through next week across the state. Increased testing is the only way we will know where the virus is in Michigan and will guide our public health response.

The IRS told us they deposited the first Economic Impact Payments into taxpayers' bank accounts on Saturday. Deposits will continue in the days ahead, starting with people who have filed tax returns for 2018 or 2019 and authorized direct deposit. We are working to ensure Americans can receive their stimulus paycheck as soon as possible. The IRS is working to set up a portal so people can input their direct deposit information. We will provide you that portal as soon as we have it. People need relief and we won’t stop working until people receive the relief they need.

My staff and I are here every day, seven days a week to help you. I have a great team and everyone is part of problem solving, answering questions and Team Dingell just wants to help. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage.
