Coronavirus update: April 13, 2020

Here is an update for April 13, 2020.
Thought of the day: Keep a routine. Exercise daily, clean your home, talk to friends and stay normal. It’s what’s getting me through this. Learning that POTUS retweeted a tweet that said “fire Fauci” put me in a not good mood this morning. I will do everything I can today calling colleagues and organizing to keep that from happening. Tony Fauci is the most decent, honorable, smartest, no nonsense, dedicated person I know. How we handle COVID-19 requires facts. Science. Medical expertise. experience. Not political influence. That person is Dr. Fauci. Good news on the cost of tests and treatment for coronavirus. Governor Whitmer worked with many of us talking to insurance companies to encourage the state’s health insurance companies to waive cost-sharing, including copays, deductibles, and coinsurance for coronavirus testing and treatments and most of them have now agreed to do that. This is important work and I thank the Governor for her leadership. Full information on this is found here. Many Michiganders and businesses have donated essential gear like masks, gloves, shoe covers, and so much more to our frontline workers. People are coming together to defeat this invisible enemy. Every day I’m working to connect people to help make this happen. If you want to donate essential items to help meet the most pressing needs for our healthcare and frontline workers, visit here. The Internal Revenue Service launched a new web tool to allow individuals who were not required to file a 2019 tax return to securely provide their bank information in order to receive their economic relief payments. Beaumont Health has launched a study to determine the total population with coronavirus antibodies across a health system, identify potential plasma donors, and better understand the transmission of the virus. Understanding the antibodies of coronavirus is key to helping us defeat this virus. In many other infections, antibodies offer immunity against reinfection. The study will begin to answer whether coronavirus antibodies offer any protection post infection. My staff and I are here every day, seven days a week to help you. I have a great team and everyone is part of problem solving, answering questions and Team Dingell just wants to help. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage. New information becomes available every day. Below is a list of resources and information that can be helpful during this time.
