Coronavirus update: April 19, 2020

Here is an update for April 19.

Thought of the day: “Let perseverance be your engine and hope your fuel” — H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

The weekend is almost over, but work hasn’t finished. Still on the phone from sunrise to sunset working to address PPE, small business loans, and unemployment issues. We need to get more money into the small business programs and update the CARES II package to help people.

Michigan has the 10th highest population in the country, but we have been in the top five states of the highest number of cases in the country for weeks, most of them in third place. Unfortunately for COVID-19 deaths, we continue to have the third highest rate in the country. The Governor is using every tool in her disposal to keep us safe, listening to the health experts, and doing what will get us through this. I think it is becoming important for the doctors and scientists to share with the public the data and information that important decisions are being made on. These days are trying and difficult for all of us, and the more information available the better able we all are equipped to deal with this.

Now more than ever it’s important to take care of yourself. I’ve never been one to meditate, but came across this great website that has a collection of sleep and meditation exercises that are designed to help you keep a healthy mind. Mental health is so important during all of this. Visit www.headspace.com/mi to learn more.

Good reading for the day. Mitch Albom is a friend I deeply respect and he is always food for my soul. His column today from the Detroit Free Press is thought provoking and I share it with you.

The Michigan I know doesn't have a short memory. It doesn't forget that the cornavirus is a silent killer. The Michigan I know doesn't lose its head.

Team Dingell is here seven days a week and wants to listen and help. It isn’t as smooth as we want on some issues, but we will never stop fighting for you. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage.
