Coronavirus Update: April 25, 2020

Here is an update for April 25.

Thought of the Day: “In times of difficulty those brave enough to stay the course will be victors in the end” – Coach Bo Schembechler

Governor Whitmer extended the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order through May 15. Over the past week, we have watched the number of cases slowly decline. We aren’t in the clear. We are closely watching to see if new hotspots develop. But it is time to start thinking about the future and how we can safely and gradually put Michiganders back to work. The new order allows some workers – such as landscapers and lawn-service companies – to return to the job. As well as lifting the closed areas on large stores and permitting retailers that do not sell necessary supplies to reopen for curbside pick-up and delivery.

The order does require people to wear face coverings when they enter enclosed public spaces and requires employers to provide at least cloth face coverings to their employees. No one should be afraid to go work. People won’t have to wear a face covering when they are taking a walk in the neighborhood, but when you go to the grocery store you should be wearing one.

We all want things to get back to normal, but we have to stay home and stay smart. That’s how we defeat this virus.

My next telephone town hall will be this coming Wednesday. Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist will join to discuss the latest order and answer your important questions. We want to reach everyone that is interested so please let us know if you want to participate by signing up here. This will ensure you receive a call to join.

Team Dingell is here seven days a week and wants to listen and help. It isn’t as smooth as we want on some issues, but we will never stop fighting for you. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage.
