Here is an update for May 2nd.
Thought of the day: “Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, it’s uplifting, it’s encouraging, it’s strengthening.” – Aretha Franklin, Detroit’s own Queen of Soul. If you are expecting a call from Michigan unemployment or any agency assisting you during this time, ANSWER ALL CALLS. For Michigan Unemployment, save this number: 866-500-0017. Customer service agents will do callbacks from this number, and they can't call multiple times, according to the agency. The number could be labeled as “Potential Spam" by your service provider. Saving this number will mean it isn't marked as spam. If it is in fact a spam call – hang up right away. Another busy day on the phone, didn’t even feel like a Friday. Many local radio interviews. Joined the Michigan Congressional delegation with Dr. Marisa Eisenberg from the University of Michigan School of public health to talk about the outlook in Michigan. It’s sobering, we must continue working to flatten the curve and prevent a second wave. We all need to heed the directions of medical and state leaders working to keep our communities safe from this virus. I’m as stir crazy as you, but its critical we stay home. Good news from Beaumont, they will soon be reopening the Beaumont Wayne Hospital. When they announced the closure in April, I was deeply concerned about the impact it would have in Western Wayne County communities and our region’s ability to respond to the public health crisis. Reopening and bringing back laid off employees is a good step, but one that should have never happened in the first place. The COVID-19 crisis is putting incredible stress on our hospitals and health systems, at the exact time they are critical in our battle of this invisible enemy. Congress must urgently increase support for hospitals and health care providers to ensure strength on the front lines. Team Dingell is here seven days a week and wants to listen and help. It isn’t as smooth as we want on some issues, but we will never stop fighting for you. Call our office at 313-278-2936 or contact us through Facebook or our webpage.
