Dingell Announced $20.7 Million for Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority in CARES Act Funding

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) announced that the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority will receive $20.7 million in funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funding will be used to operate transit in the greater Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area during the COVID-19 crisis.

“Public transit is essential now more than ever – providing a ride to work, essential shopping, and necessary medical appointments,” said Dingell. “This critical support will make sure residents in Washtenaw County can continue to rely on Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority for a ride, while ensuring the financial stability of this essential service.”

The grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is 100 percent federal funds with no local match required. The CARES Act provides $25 billion to transit agencies to help to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
