Dingell Update: June 7, 2020

Here is an update for June 7th
Thought of the day: “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” – James Baldwin Sunday is meant to be a day of rest, but we are in the midst of a call of urgency for change. These last few months it can be difficult to differentiate what day it is as one rolls into the other. We are a country that’s changing. There are multiple walks, rallies and gatherings in many cities across the 12th today and I will participate in as many as I can. Yesterday, I joined young people, old people, people of all backgrounds, for a protest in Grosse Ile. Everyone from all communities had words of acknowledgment of the intolerance, discrimination, anger, fear, hatred of past. We are a community coming together with a vision for the future, desire for action, and commitment to the work ahead.
Yesterday, Michigan reported 224 new cases of COVID-19 and 36 deaths related to the virus. We have continued to see a decrease in the virus, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone. It’s still out there and real. Please remember when with others wear a mask, try to keep physical distance as best as possible, and wash your hands. Team Dingell is here seven days a week and wants to listen and help. It isn’t as smooth as we want on some issues, but we will never stop fighting for you.
