Dingell on Equality Act Passage
Washington,
February 25, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) today released the following statement after voting for the Equality Act. As an original co-sponsor of the legislation, Dingell celebrated the historic expansion of anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans with regard to employment, education, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, housing and public accommodations. “No one should ever face discrimination because of who they are,” said Congresswoman Dingell. “With the passage of the Equality Act, we have moved another step closer to ensuring our laws are applied equally and equitably for all LGBTQ+ people who call this nation home. But even after President Joe Biden signs this bill into law and codifies these critical antidiscrimination protections, our work will continue as we fight every single day to live up to our founding ideals of equality, freedom, and justice.” ### |
