Dingell Statement on Census Data Showing Loss of Michigan Congressional Seat

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) issued the following statement as the U.S. Census Bureau released apportionment data showing that Michigan would lose one Congressional seat: “I have long believed in the power and potential of representative democracy. Voters passed the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission last year to ensure all Michiganders are fairly and appropriately represented. This is even more important now that Michigan is losing a seat in the U.S. House, and I have faith that this independent process is what’s best for our state. While it’s disappointing to lose a seat, it’s reassuring the hear about our state’s growth. We need to work together in the meantime to attract new businesses, provide more jobs, and ensure our state stays at the forefront of innovation and technology.” ### |
