Dingell Applauds Biden-Harris Administration’s Decision on Allowing Fully-Vaccinated Travel Between the U.S. and Canada

Dearborn, MI - Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) released the following statement after the Biden-Harris Administration announced that fully-vaccinated, non-essential travelers with appropriate documentation from Canada and Mexico will be permitted to enter the United States via land and ferry entrances across the U.S. border starting in November.

“Throughout the pandemic, my team and I have spoken with so many distressed families, workers, and businesses in Michigan who have been separated from families and friends and are also reaping the financial impacts of little to no travel and tourism. This new safe and evidence-based strategy for reopening international travel will not only allow families and friends to reunite but will also boost the economy in Michigan and across the country. I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for their efforts to strategically reopen the borders for fully-vaccinated travelers from Canada and Mexico – something that will bring a bit of light to many families and business owners across the country as we continue to fight this virus.”

Dingell has supported a safe reopening strategy between the United States and Canada throughout the pandemic, most recently sending a letter with her colleague Rep. Haley Stevens to President Biden urging for the adoption an evidence-based strategy to safely reopen international travel along the northern border.
