WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today toured Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital (HFWH) with HFWH President Jennifer Eslinger to highlight a $900,000 federal investment she secured in the omnibus appropriations package to improve facilities and expand telehealth services. “Access to telehealth services proved to be critical throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dingell. “Through telehealth and virtual technology deployment, hospitals can expand precious bandwidth and make direct patient care resources more readily and easily available for inpatients. State of the art technology that connects the electronic medical record, cameras, and experts such as physicians, pharmacists, and nurses can provide real-time supportive care to patients and the on-site care team, increasing safety and efficiency. This important federal investment will help Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital expand telehealth services to get more Michiganders the care they need.” “We are thrilled with the opportunity this federal support presents for the hospital and the community,” said Jennifer Eslinger, President of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. “As we’ve seen throughout the pandemic, telehealth improves convenience and accessibility to healthcare and promotes better overall health in our Downriver community." Dingell secured the nearly $1 million federal investment as part of her Community Project Funding requests for Fiscal Year 2022. Altogether, Dingell secured $13,774,000 in federal funding for community projects throughout Michigan’s 12th Congressional District in the annual appropriations omnibus package. Dingell’s community project funding opportunities directly invest in projects to protect the environment, strengthen public safety, increase access to affordable housing and health care, and support early education and workforce development.
