WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today released the following statement congratulating Santa Ono on his appointment as the 15th President of the University of Michigan.

“By choosing Santa Ono as the 15th President, the Regents of the University of Michigan have chosen a candidate with long experience in higher education and a commitment to students,” said Congresswoman Dingell. “As a former professor and faculty member, I hope that he will invest in the growth and development of all students, faculty, and supporters throughout the entire UM system. In the days, weeks, and months ahead, I look forward to getting to know President Ono and working closely with him to ensure we meet our shared goal of keeping the University of Michigan world class.”
