Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) today announced that the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor will receive $5,990,779 in federal grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to conduct research in areas including pharmacology, physiology, biological chemistry, immunology, heart and vascular diseases, and mental health, as well as support Nurse Anesthetist Traineeships and other programs.

"This funding is crucial for continuing research into diseases that impact Americans daily. The state of Michigan remains at the forefront of research to find the best possible solutions to ensure quality of life for all Michiganders," Dingell said. "Our most vulnerable populations need our help, and this research by the University of Michigan will continue to advance disease prevention and treatment."

Projects receiving funding include:

• $867,507 for Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry Research
• $517,113 for Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation Research
• $434,502 for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Research
• $1,452,334 for Heart and Vascular Diseases Research
• $318,986 for Mental Health Research Grants
• $80,624 for A22 - Nurse Anesthetist Traineeships
• $1,200,000 for Supporting and Improving the Surveillance System for Chronic Kidney Disease in the U.S.
