Dingell Statement on President Biden's State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON,
March 8, 2024
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address.
“Tonight, President Biden made clear just how much we have gotten done in the last three years, and detailed his vision for the future: a vision of progress, possibilities, and resilience. Under Joe Biden’s presidency, we’re taking on the hard issues that keep Americans up at night, and lowering the everyday costs that are placing an outsized burden on too many American families, from prescription drugs to energy to education. He reminded everyone that the middle class built America, and when workers are better off, our country is better off. We’re bringing home jobs that have been shipped overseas and investing in American workers and innovation. We’re getting the lead out of every pipe in every community and making sure every child has clean and safe drinking water. Joe Biden’s America is one where everyone has a fair shot, and no one gets left behind. “He also made clear what is at stake, and how hard we must work to defend our democracy, and our fundamental freedoms. President Biden knows we must work tirelessly to combat the hate, anger, and division that are creeping into our everyday lives and every corner of our country. As the President said, America is defined by the values of honesty, decency, dignity, and equality, and those are the values that will continue to move us forward.” |
