ANN ARBOR, Mich. ,
August 9, 2024
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) today hosted a Clean Energy Tax Credit Roundtable to highlight federal clean energy and energy efficiency tax credits available for Washtenaw County businesses, residents, local governments, schools and organizations to save money on energy bills and reduce pollution in our air and water. "Federal clean energy tax credits have the potential to help families cut down on their bills, improve indoor and outdoor air quality, and modernize the technologies we use every day to help curb climate change. These tax credits not only make electric vehicles (EVs) and chargers more affordable and accessible to Americans, and they also promote American manufacturing and the purchasing of American-made automobiles, further spurring economic growth and sharpening our competitive edge," said Dingell. "These clean energy tax credits also include energy efficient home improvements, rooftop solar, and other clean energy. We had meaningful conversations and discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act's clean energy tax credits are directly benefiting our communities." The roundtable participants included Jan Culbertson from Ann Arbor/ Washtenaw 2030 District, Sean Reynolds from Ann Arbor Office of Sustainability and Innovations, Ethan Petzold from Michigan League of Conservation Voters, Matthew Grocoff from THRIVE Collaborative, Andrew Hascher from Ameresco, Gary Ringer from Elevate, Doug Selby from Volta Homes, Shoshannah Lenski from the University of Michigan Center for Sustainable Systems, and Washtenaw County Resiliency Officer Beth Gibbons. More than 117,000 Michiganders claimed clean energy tax credits, totaling over $54,000 in residential clean energy tax credits and almost $80,000 in energy efficient home improvement tax credits.
