Dingell Applauds UM Collaboration With Los Alamos National Laboratory

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) today applauded the University of Michigan’s newly announced collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory to develop advanced computing technologies.

“I'm proud the University of Michigan continues to lead the nation and world in cutting edge research and innovation," Dingell said. "This groundbreaking collaboration will help better understand and address urgent challenges, create jobs, and advance critical fields including clean energy and public health. Bringing a national laboratory presence to Michigan supports our state’s growth as a leader in researching, creating, and developing the technologies of the future, and we must continue to support federal investments in these efforts.”

The effort, part of a new partnership agreement, builds on a recently established research collaboration between the two institutions. Under the expanded agreement, the laboratory and the university will partner in areas such as artificial intelligence, materials science and advanced manufacturing. The facility will be located in Washtenaw County and house two computing centers.
