Dingell, Fitzpatrick, Moore, Kim Introduce Bipartisan Resolution Honoring Victim Service Providers
Washington,
December 5, 2025
Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Gwen Moore (D-WI), and Young Kim (R-CA), co-chairs of the Bipartisan Working Group to End Domestic Violence, today introduced a resolution recognizing the critical role that victim service providers have in supporting survivors. “Victim service providers are an essential resource for survivors to fulfill basic needs like shelter and safety, as well as counseling, legal guidance, and medical care, and other personalized, trauma-informed services. For many survivors, they have nowhere else to turn in times of crisis,” Rep. Dingell said. “We introduced this resolution to recognize and thank victim service providers for their irreplaceable, lifesaving work. We must continue to support them in Congress with robust, consistent funding, to ensure survivors have the means to heal.”“When a survivor takes the brave step to reach out for help, it is often our victim service providers who ensure that they are met with safety, respect, and a way forward. Their expertise is indispensable to every step of a survivor’s path—from immediate crisis response to long-term recovery. In our PA-1 community, I’ve seen how their work can mean the difference between fear and safety, between silence and justice. Our responsibility is clear: to support and stand firmly behind them just as they support and stand with survivors,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “I’m honored to lift up the vital organizations serving survivors of abuse and their children. Every day, their work helps saves lives and supports healing. As a survivor who depended on coworkers to leave a dangerous situation, I am grateful that these services are available to those who need them most,” said Rep. Moore. “This bipartisan resolution is a token of appreciation for their lifesaving efforts, and I promise to continue supporting their work.” “Victim service providers do some of the most difficult, lifesaving work in our communities, often with far too few resources,” Rep. Kim said. “They are there when survivors need them most — offering care, guidance, and a path toward safety and justice. This resolution sends a bipartisan message that we see their work, we value it, and we are committed to strengthening the support systems survivors rely on.” View the full text of the resolution here. The Bipartisan Working Group to End Domestic Violence, chaired by Reps. Dingell, Fitzpatrick, Moore, and Kim, was established in 2018 to convene a bipartisan group of members and key stakeholders who are dedicated to ending domestic violence, creating innovative prevention strategies, and strengthening resources for survivors and their children. |
