Dear Friend,
As I reflect on these last ten days, the words of Pope Leo XIV at his inaugural Mass in St. Peter’s Square yesterday are a lesson for all of us.
“In our time, we still see too much discord, too many wounds caused by hatred, violence, prejudice, the fear of difference, and an economic… Read more »
Dear Friend,
Been back in Washington for a week after a two-week district work period. Dear Friend,
Easter is a few days away, the season of new life, hope, and renewal. Those of the Jewish faith are celebrating Passover, a seven to eight-day holiday where the message revolves around the themes of freedom, redemption, and remembrance, emphasizing the importance of both physical and… Read more »
Dear Friend,
It’s been a little longer since I sent the last newsletter, because it has been so busy. Mornings are very early, days are very late, and the people I represent want to talk, they want action (different people want different kinds of action), there is anxiety, concern,… Read more »

Dear Friend,

Happy Cold Mid-January!
These weeks reflect times of transition, cold weather and snow in both DC ( which doesn’t handle it well) and Michigan, new beginnings as we prepare for the inauguration of Donald Trump and say goodbye to President Joe Biden in this current role, goodbye to colleagues from the former Congress and hello to new ones as we’re sworn in for the 119th Congress,… Read more »
Dear Friend,
October is always one of my favorite months of the year, but I must say this one is complicated. The leaves are turning, the colors so very vibrant but the weather is warmer than usual and I didn’t turn the heat on until this past week when it got into the 30s at night. I really haven’t worn a coat yet which is almost unheard of, I can actually remember… Read more »
Dear Friend,
Time keeps flying and it is never dull. I am trying to behave and listen to the doctors, so I haven’t had a Diet Coke in almost three weeks and I’m trying to find that new drink that hits the spot. Junk food is gone, lots of soup, eggs, and soft foods. Someday, I may even hit those vegetables. Washington has been nonstop. I have met with two school groups since the last… Read more »
Dear Friend,
Well, it’s been a bit crazy these last couple of weeks. Many intense feelings. Like many campuses across the country, students at the University of Michigan have many deep feelings on all sides. Trying to listen and talk to everyone. The NFL Draft was an amazing success and Michigan should be proud. We continue to see unpredictable weather, as one headline called it ‘four… Read more »
