Dingell on Second Asbestos Violation at Former McLouth Steel Site

TRENTON, MI – Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) released the following statement after Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) issued a violation notice to 21st Century Salvage and Crown Enterprises for a large cloud of dust during the demolition and abatement activities of equipment being treated as containing asbestos at the former McLouth Steel Site in Trenton: “Protecting air quality for these communities is a top priority,” said Dingell. “This is now the second asbestos violation related to the demolition and abatement operations at the former McLouth Steel site. My office will be meeting with the Governor’s office and EGLE to learn more about this specific incident. It is our collective duty to ensure this project is being carried out appropriately and protects public health and the surrounding environment at all time.” ### |
