Addressing the climate crisis

The time is now for an agenda to address the climate crisis on all fronts. Today, House Democrats unveiled an agenda to address climate change, create new jobs, and transition our country to a clean energy economy. I’m proud to let you know that this agenda has 8 provisions I fought for on behalf of the hardworking men and women in Michigan.

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was clear: we must rapidly transition to a clean, net-zero emissions economy by 2050. We know the goals, we have the framework, now we must use American ingenuity and leadership to transition to a clean energy economy that will create jobs, protect the environment, and work for communities in Michigan and across the country.

According to an independent analysis, the Climate Crisis Action Plan and my provisions in it would save more than 60,000 American lives every year by 2050 thanks to reduced air pollution, as well as nearly $8 trillion saved through 2050 thanks to health and climate benefits. On top of that, it will help create millions of new jobs for hardworking men and women. Now is the time for action. Not tomorrow, not next week – now. Our planet, the economy, and the people of this country cannot wait any longer.
