Dingell on Beaumont Ending Proposed Merger

DEARBORN, MI – Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) issued the following statement after Beaumont Health announced it ended the proposed merger with Advocate Aurora Health:

“We knew from the start there were serious concerns with the proposed merger between Beaumont Health and Advocate Aurora Health. Ending these partnership discussions is the correct decision, and I’m glad that the concerns that were raised in a letter from myself and Congresswoman Tlaib have been heeded, as well as feedback and conversations we have been having since the merger discussions became public. Beaumont plays a key role in providing healthcare to southeast Michigan, including in my district, and it must live up to its longstanding reputation for providing quality health care to the communities it serves. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that this commitment is upheld.”

Earlier this year, Dingell and Congresswoman Tlaib (D-MI) requested additional details about the proposed merger’s impact on patient care and outstanding concerns raised by Beaumont physicians and other stakeholders.
