Dingell Statement on New Ford Global Battery Center in Southeast Michigan

Dearborn, MI - Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) released the following statement applauding Ford’s new global battery center and emphasizing its importance for Southeast Michigan:

“Ford’s new global battery center is another indicator that the journey to electrification is moving swiftly – and Michigan will be front and center. Ford Ion Park will help create and maintain good-paying union jobs for Michiganders and continue our state’s leadership and competitiveness in building batteries and developing auto technology, without having to export any innovation or jobs overseas. It’s critical we strengthen our domestic manufacturing and supply chains for batteries here at home to continue supporting the mobility industry – especially for the people of Southeast Michigan – so we can keep the United States at the forefront of auto technology and innovation, and that’s why I recently introduced the U.S.A. Electrify Forward Act and the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Future Act to modernize and expand a program used to build and retool auto factories in the United States.”
