WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today secured $13,774,000 in federal funding for community projects throughout Michigan’s 12^th Congressional District in the House-passed annual appropriations omnibus package. Dingell’s community project funding opportunities will directly invest in projects to protect the environment, strengthen public safety, increase access to affordable housing and health care, and support early education and workforce development.

“Local leaders in our cities and towns are working every day to improve the lives of their neighbors and strengthen our communities, and it’s our federal government’s job to support them. With this investment of nearly $14 million divided among ten critical local projects, we will give community organizations the support they need to create real, lasting change. Whether it’s the long-overdue Ecorse Creek flood resiliency design and construction, a transition to net-zero energy for affordable housing in Ann Arbor, the construction of a new $3 million recreation center in Ypsilanti, or investments in telehealth services at Henry Ford Wyandotte, we are making good on our promise to deliver for the people we serve.

“Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working with our local leaders to get this funding in their hands as soon as possible. And then we’ll be right back to work talking with our communities to identify other areas of opportunity and need throughout the 12^th District for next year’s funding package.”

• Ecorse Creek, Wayne County, MI; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, $1,675,000
• Police Community Relations Training Program, Educate Youth Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti, MI, $149,000
• Prisoner Reentry Services, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI, $250,000
• Safe, Healthy, and Net Zero Energy Affordable Supportive Housing, Ann Arbor, MI, $3,000,000
• Washtenaw Intergrated Senior Experience (WISE) Center, Ann Arbor, MI, $1,500,000
• Eastern Washtenaw Recreation Center, Washtenaw County, $3,000,000
• Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, Wyandotte, MI for facilities and equipment, including telehealth equipment, $900,000
• Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI for early childhood educational services, $300,000
• Henry Ford College, Dearborn, MI for technology and manufacturing education, $2,000,000
• Arab Community Center for Economic & Social Services, Dearborn, MI for integrated services, literacy education, and social and emotional learning, $1,000,000
