Dingell Statement Honoring Veterans Day

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today released the following statement recognizing Veterans Day.

“Today we thank all our nation’s veterans for their service and their sacrifice. You answered the call to serve in times of great peril when your nation needed you most. We owe you our respect, freedom, and gratitude for the innumerable sacrifices not only you but your family and loved ones have made. To our military families, we thank you for your support, strength, and encouragement.”

“I'm reminded today of the man I loved dearly and miss every day, John Dingell. Throughout his life, John held many titles - congressman, chairman, father, friend, and husband - but the title he cherished most was veteran. John's service in World War II had a profound impact on his life and worldview. He dedicated his life to fighting to improve the lives of our veterans and servicemembers - bringing us closer to living up to our promise to take care of our veterans when they get home. And I remain committed to upholding that promise today.”

Dingell joined several groups around Michigan’s 12th district to recognize Veterans Day, including Washtenaw Community College, Lincoln Park Historical Museum, Dearborn Allied War Veterans Council, and Downriver for Veterans & UAW 3000. Yesterday she joined the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit for their Veterans Day ceremony. Click here to view photos from the events.
