Dingell Statement on New Proposed Vehicle Emissions Standards
Washington,
April 12, 2023
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) released the following statement on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new proposed federal vehicle emissions standards for light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles for model year (MY) 2027 and beyond. “We know that to meet our climate goals we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the transportation sector, and we must accelerate domestic electric vehicle development, manufacturing, and deployment, but in doing so, we must not leave behind the working men and women who have built their lives and careers in the auto industry. I have long supported the transition to electrification, but as we continue to move toward a clean energy future, we must ensure we are prepared by implementing policies that prioritize our workers, make EVs more affordable and accessible to consumers, build out our nationwide charging infrastructure, and reinforce our power grid. I will keep working together with the administration, our labor partners, industry, and all others to craft a path forward that is sustainable for our environment, and for our working men and women.” |
