WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today released the following statement after the House voted against a flawed trade package that would have granted President Obama Fast Track Trade Authority, but failed to protect American workers.
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today released the following statement after the House voted against a flawed trade package that would have granted President Obama Fast Track Trade Authority, but failed to protect American workers. “Today was an important victory for the working men and women of Michigan and across the country, but this fight is far from over. While the House succeeded in stopping a flawed bill that fell woefully short of protecting workers displaced by trade, I am disappointed that a small majority voted to fast track trade legislation through Congress. “This is the wrong path for our country; it hurts American workers and will cost American jobs. This fight is not over and we must keep working to ensure Congress does not abdicate its responsibility to protect the men and women we represent.” |
