Dingell Announces $12.7 Million for Willow Run Airport

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will grant Willow Run Airport $12,780,187 to construct a new taxiway.

“Willow Run Airport is a critical juncture for commerce, cargo, and general aviation,” said Dingell. “The strength and viability of Willow Run Airport are critical for jobs and our regional economy. I am proud to have worked with Willow Run and local elected officials to continue supporting essential infrastructure improvements at the airport. With this funding from the Department of Transportation, we will continue to expand airport operations, improve passenger experience, and keep our local economy and supply chains running.”

"The Wayne County Airport Authority is pleased to receive a $12.5 million Federal Aviation Administration grant to help fund the construction of a new parallel taxiway at Willow Run Airport. The project will make the airport's primary runway more efficient and improve safety,” said Chad Newton, CEO of Wayne County Airport Authority. “WCAA thanks Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, U.S. Senators Gary Peters, and Debbie Stabenow, and the entire Michigan congressional delegation for their tireless advocacy of Willow Run Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. We also appreciate the FAA's continued support and understanding of our infrastructure needs.”

In the last year, Dingell has announced nearly $26 million in grants for Willow Run Airport as part of the Biden-Harris Administration and Democrats in Congress’s commitment to rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure.

Willow Run Airport, on average, handles over 200,000,000 lbs. of cargo annually, making it one of the nation’s largest airports for landed air freight flown exclusively by cargo aircraft.
