Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) this week met with participants in the Giffords Courage Fellowship Program from Michigan to discuss their experiences and efforts combatting gun violence.
“Gun violence has impacted the lives of far too many Americans and thoughts and prayers are not going to prevent the next tragedy. We in Congress have a responsibility to ensure our young people can grow up safe and go to school, to the mall, or to a music festival without fear,” Dingell said. “I am incredibly proud of these GIFFORDS Courage Fellows who are using their experiences, their talent, and their passion to bring about change.” “As members of the 2024 class of GIFFORDS Courage Fellows, we were thrilled to put the skills we learned through our program into practice today and meet with legislators to advocate for gun violence prevention. Congresswoman Dingell is a steadfast leader on this issue and we are honored that she took the time to meet with us,” said Joseph Kesto, Ananya Patil, Julia Plawker, and Charlotte Plotzke, 2024 Courage Fellows and Michigan natives. Giffords launched the Courage Fellowship program in 2018 in order to empower young advocates, help them develop leadership skills, and give them opportunities to fight for lifesaving gun safety laws. |
