Dingell Statement on Ford Workforce Reductions
Washington, DC,
May 17, 2017
U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today released the following statement regarding Ford’s announcement that the company will cut 10 percent of its salaried workforce worldwide. “Ford Motor Company is in my backyard. It’s the lifeblood of our community and the men and women who work there are some of the best and hardest working individuals I know. As I said yesterday, this is about jobs. Every job matters, and we need to ensure we are doing everything we can to ensure a strong manufacturing base and a healthy thriving auto industry that never returns to the times of 2008. We must work together at the federal level to accelerate policies that create a strong competitive environment for our companies to do business – including addressing currency manipulation and updating our tax policies so the U.S. can stay at the forefront of innovation and technology. I will work with anyone to advance policies that protect and grow these jobs, keep manufacturing in this country and keep our auto industry strong.” |
